TII engine into a FB

Well, most of you know about my TII project. I've been pulling my hair out (what's left of it anyways) trying to find time to pull the oil pan and front cover and get an -SE cover and pan. Well, last night I saw another FB with the exact engine I want in it. Stock cover, and stock oil pan, with the stock electronic OMP. He custom made his motor mounts. Granted, the oil drain plug is blocked, so you still need to use an -SE pan, but the cover wasn't changed, and the tranny shifter didn't have to be modified...at all. The shifter fit right where the stocker fits, no questions asked.

I wish I had my camera out there, but I saw it with my own eyes. So, all you need is a custom driveshaft, and those mounts. Possibly some tranny mounts too. So much easier to put the motor in. I'll get pics possibly next saturday.

Problems with the mounts:

The engine itself is raised approximately 1/2", which causes the alternator to slightly hit the hood. You can either cut the hood x-member, or manipulate it in such a way to provide for more clearance.

I'm not going to advertise this yet because I don't think he's into mass-producing this thing, but if he sees this thread with some good interest, he just may. I don't know the price yet, he's still working it out for me, but damn does this make things THAT much easier.

Just a sugestiion, but couldn't the mounts be cut down to lower the engine in the engine bay further. That is if the oil pan will clear the sub frame.

Sounds good for anyone doing a factory ECU S5 swap.
For the S4 guys, its not really neccesary since the S4 OMP will bolt directly to the SE front cover.
If I were going to go as far as to custom fab FC motor mounts, then why not take it the rest of the way and do a full FC front crossmember swap. Then you wont have to fab any motormounts,or worry about oilpan/hood clearance issues, and itd probably be less fabrication work than the custom mounts.Plus youll automatically pick up bigger brakes, better lug patterns, aluminum suspension and R&P steering too.

This is more for the tight budgeted person I think. Like I said, I don't know if he's gonna produce any more besides the set I asked him to make. I'll have to talk with him to see if the mounts could be shortened, but I think something hits the crossmember.

there is also that alternator relocation kit that pineapple racing sells.
that would solve the alternator clearance problem

Putting in the front sub frame out of a fc isn't all that difficult pull out all the old. Make your measurements from the rear tire's to the front, and from the front of the car to the sub frame to get it square check every thing multiple times (VERY IMPORTANT) get some good grade 8 bolts and a long drill bit 4 holes and bolts. Already did this swap on a car of mine awaiting a 20b. Took about 2 weekends messing with it about 8 hours a day. cost about $20 but I already had the parts car.
