think i have a vacuum/pressure guage wit ha rubber stopper on the end i can force down into one of the plug holes and test it that way, if not ill just listen and feel for the puffs. whats a good strong psi on a rotary? and anyone know right off hand what the plug thread size is? i need to build up my tools again, they got stolen a while back

A comical little story. Went to the dyno with a freind friday evening, to see what his T2 was putting out. During the dyno runs, while the car was idling, we heard a rattle. Scared the heck outta the dyno guys when we laughed about the rod knocking in his Rotary. Yes, it had a rod knocking. The hood prop rod........





But yes, there can be a knock in a Rotary.

These cars can be very finicky when it comes to ignition. If the timing was set a few months ago, then start by verifying that you still have spark on the leading side.
