Throw me a bone?
Ok guys, did some searching. . .alot of searching about this didnt find what i was looking for. I did find however a awesome write up about FC front suspension into an FB. But i've had a boner for putting FC/FD rear independent suspension into my FB. Didnt find anything like that for the rear in the archives, has it been done aka is there a write up that will hold my hand thru the process or am i gonna have to be the guy to post the write up? Thanx prematurely for any info there might be, if no write up is available i might have to see what i can do about changing that.

Try searching, "IRS" and you might be able to pull up a couple of older threads since I know there are a couple. If I can find it, I'll post a picture of one guy's FB that's got it. So yes, it HAS been done, but not cheaply. If you do enough research, you may even come across some of the pictures of the S3's that they tested the FC's IRS out on before they completed development. I think they only made three (five?) of these simply as prototypes to test out the 2nd gen suspension.
And FYI, there probably aren't any write-ups on this since very few people have done it (to my knowledge) and it is a very expensive conversion requiring a log of custom fabrication including cutting out the rear part of your chasis (the section in front of the rear axel). Overall, I've heard this is not something you should attempt unless you are either REALLY good with your hands and have a lot of time, or just plain have a butt-load of money lying around. My mechanic was telling me that if you were to pay a actual auto shop to do this sort of work you're looking at $10K+...
I don't mean to discourage you from doing this, since I would LOVE to see someone else do it!

Here's the thread you need.

Unless you have extensive car building skills, don't even bother. FWIW, the FC irs isn't really worth the work, effort or expense, a Miata unit is better. Upgrading the stock rear with coilovers, springs, panhard bar and a tri-link would serve the same purpose for much less money and work. As far as the front suspension, check out ReSpeed's products.

Thanks guys for the assist with the thread. For the moment its not something withing my grasp (Rx7=Broke) but it is something that had crossed my mind. And I have to say damn that looks sexy sitting under there. Like i said i had found the FC front swap and i know that respeed has some killer products but it was the rear that had me intrigued. If. . . well when i get the gumtion to tackle this i'll be sure to take notes and share the goodies. Thanks again.
