During the process of removing the intake manifold and carburetor assembly from my 84 GS, I managed to destroy the plastic cover on the barrel end of at least one of the cables attached to the carb. Is it OK to reinstall the cables (especially the throttle) without the plastic cover over the barrel end? Thanks!

 

My daily driver has a half a sleeve left and its fine. I dont think it would be a problem.
