Thought I would share pics of my recent SE purchase
First off I want to say how much I am enjoying reading all the posts from all of you FB fans and very excited to be joining such a great group. So hear goes my buying experience...
I had been searching for an FB for a few months and was beginning to think I might not find what I was looking for. Maybe I was being too picky but being picky paid off for me. I found on ebay one Sunday exactly what I was looking for.
It was an 85' metalic blue GSL-SE with 58,000 original miles. I bought it from the second owner who always garaged it. He even had the window sticker and a stack of reciepts showing all the maintaince and repairs. When I drove off I swear I saw a tear coming from this guys eye. His wife was making him sell it.
So far I have changed the wheels to 5zigen RS6 in hyper black wrapped with Falken 615's . Removed the rear wing (its for sale if anyone is interested). The car is currently at the Rotary Shack getting pumped up with a TII swap, upgraded brakes, suspension, and water/methonal injection.
Just thought I would share. Let me know what you guys think.

Very nice looking SE, I'm actually suprised you're already dropping all the money for a TII swap. Either way, great looking car. I would have removed the wing too. Anyway. Congratulations on the buy, and welcome to the forum.

My plan from the start was to do a TII swap, but I didn't expect to buy much less find a 7 in this condition with the low miles. I feel kinda bad for swapping the motor so soon, but I am sure my feelings will change when I am boosting.
So I guess you aren't interested in the wing?

haha No, I'm not interested in the wing. I am interested in the TII engine swap though. Are you planning on keeping the TII engine stock, and is it coming out of an S4 or S5?
I have an '83 and an '84, both are GSL's. I would love to do a TII engine swap in one of them, but currently I am saving the money to do a turbo setup on my 12a.
How long have you had the car? Was it just bought, or have you had it for a couple months and been getting used to the car?

Its an S5. I have had the car a total of about 2 months. I only drove it about 500 miles and then drooped it off at the Shack about 3 weeks ago.
Plan is to run the stock turbo and slowly upgrade the power as I learn to drive the 7.
It had been like 10 years since I drove one of these and I found it hard to steer at first because of no power steering, but after 2 weeks I had arms like popeye.

The gold wheels are American Racing and are currently being stripped of the gold and will be painted black. I will most likley use these for daily driving.
The 5zigen's will be for the track.
Gold is just not my bag.

Sorry, forgot to answer your questions about the tires.
I planned on not driving this car in the rain, but I drove to see a friend who lives about 200 miles away and when I left that day is was nice and sunny. The next day it was pooring rain and I thought for sure I would be all over the road. I took it easy at first and half way home I was doing 75-80 with no issues.

What are you going to do about the intercooler though? Get a hoodscoop or go with a front mount?

Robert at the Shack is giving me credit for the motor.
I found the car on ebay and ist was in mission viejo, CA. Car was first sold in Bakersfield and lived in Cali its whole life. This means its rust free.
