Thermal Reactor?

Hi guys, I have a 1988 european NA FC, and this has a thermal reactor instead of normal header (no body on gen2 section knows hardly anything about them). Just wondered if you guys had something similar on your 1st gens?

This is a pic of my stock exhaust on my gen2

Just wondered do you guyus have something similar? What gases/air run out of those 6 holes arrayed around the main exhast outlet?

Any help would be much appreciated

Those hole carry the heated air from the heat exchanger back to the reactor so that the hot air can sustain burning of the hydrocarbons from the engine.

What is the problem you are having?

They are very heavy! I had an '80 that had one of those. It was before they had catalytic converters on the First gens. That's odd they'd have those on a later model.

Those cars also had distributors. That's right; a 2nd gen with a dizzy instead of a CAS. Weird.

Yeah our 2nd gens are very different to Us ones

Im constructing a custom exhaust for it as the current one is dead. When i came to rip off the old one i found a maze of pipes and i just wont settle until i know what each one does I think my plan is to rip out thermal reactor, build myself a custom header similar to RB, job done
