Thanks for responding to my hoodscoop poll!
Wow, what a response to the poll. I never would have expected so many people to have interest.
Due to an overwhelming vote of 86% disliking or hating the hood scoop--I am offically going to use a FMIC.
You guys forced me into figuring out how to run the intercooler lines and still keep the p/s and a/c.
I would love to have the CP racing hood scoop but I just am not good with bodywork and it would probably end up running well over $500--and it wouldn't work as good as a FMIC.
I think I'm going to go with a Porsche 944 intercooler. Got one for a good price and it appears to fit well in front of the radiator. From what I've heard it's a top quality intercooler.
Thanks Again for your votes--you kept me from making a big mistake.

Dude that thing is frickin huge! Looks very nice. I don't claim to be a turbo buff or anything as I am just learning day by day but I was told that you don't want to go too thick on the core (more than 3inches) because it will hold in more heat or something. This was told to me by some guys on the forum. Take it for what it's worth. You would sure think Porshe would know what their doiing though wouldnt you so you would probably be good with that.

Just to finish up this chaper of the hood scoop saga.
Went by a reputable body shop today and got an estimate on the install of a CP racing fiberglass hoodscoop.
The owner told me it probably would not hold up very well. He said thermal expansions and vibrations would most likely cause the bonding to crack and he could not warrant such work. On top of that it would run about $750.
Given that the RX-7 doesn't handle bumps very well, the turbo engine creates alot of heat, and it won't work as good as a FMIC--I feel this would be a poor choice. So I stick with the FMIC design.
I really haven't seen many of these scoops on RX-7's. Berns is a one-off that from what I remember was done very well and was very expensive. I do like the look of it but given the cost and questionable service life I can not go that route.
If someone has had success with this mounting and at least two years of service I'd really like to hear about it.
