Testing oil level sender

What are the ohm values for testing the oil level sender that goes in the oil pan? My dash light is lite and the buzzer sounds. This is a fresh rebuild and it hasn't even been on the street yet. I know the oil level is ok. I pulled the sender tonight and ohmed it out and I'm getting very inclusive measurements. Sometimes 300 ohms, other times over 1k ohms +. When I move the plunger up, it does read infinity.

I have plenty of spares, I might have to pull one of those and test it.

I looked at the FSM but did not find anything about test this.

Specified resistance is 2 to 4 Kilo ohm at 50 to 86 degree farenheit.
