Buying an FC is rarely a better idea than buying an FB.
Besides, the FB is cheap. You should buy it and buy the FC. Then you'll only need two other cars for your collection

oh dam.. good call!. now thats an idea.
the 1986 has been garaged for 5 years. she started it once every month or 2 to cirulate things. she left the country for 4 months and when she got back, started her up. it starts fine, again only 40K on the rebuilt motor, but the seals arounds the oil pan had dryed up. she drives a new car now and just doesnt feel like getting that fixed. so, it'll be $400 for the car and the cost of replacing oil seals around the oil pan. no biggie.
as for the other one, the 1985, its $300 now, and needs a $250 driveshaft and a $300 suspenstion fix.
by the way.. whats fb and fc?

SA= '79-'80 first gen.
FB=81-85 first gen
FC=86-91 secong gen.
FD = '93 and up third gen.
Those are the chassis codes.
Of the models and changes between years.
Series one =79-80
Series two=81-83
Series three =84-85
Series four = 86-88
Series five = 89-92
And I guess the FD is a series six, though people don't often refer to them as such.
The 86 sounds like a good deal too. Buy them both.

Driveshafts and stock susspension parts are essentially worthless.

I personally like first gens(fb) better than second gens(fc) (you are in the first gen section after all)
I've owned several of both. (currently have an 84, 85, and a 90)
You are aware that the 86 is a totally different car than the one you started this thread about aren't you?

yeah. i just wanted to continue in here since i might by both, and its been an ongoing story starting with the gen 1. i really think im gonna buy both. its looking that way. that gen 1 needs some love and id hate to see it get run down by some dumb kids who wont take care of it.

You do it!
7's are easy to work on.
If you're confident enough to fix the susspension I'm sure you can handle:
1. Change the oil and filter.
2. Drain out old gas if it has been sitting long.
3. Change the fuel filter
4. Inspect the spark plus and wires and replace with new ones if you think you need to.
5. Fill with some fresh gas and a can of seafoam and drive it around.
If you want to get into it further you can check you timing and **** like that. It's all easy and there are how to's for everything you'll ever need to do on this site.
