Te04

I'm looking at a turbo for sale locally tomorrow. It's a TE04, will this be sufficient for a low-boost set-up? Motor is stockport 12A and will be using 44mm throttlebodies with megasquirt fuel injection. Autocross and street use are the main criteria and it probably won't see opotunity to boost for longer than 5 seconds, max.
Thanks,
Grant

P.S. Been searching the old turbo threads but I've still got a few questions.

Ummm, it's probably a T04E. I don't know that much about turbos, but do a search for T04E on the forum or ebay and you should be able to find out the size of the turbo and how much power it's good for. If I'm remembering right, I think the T04E is a decent sized turbo, good for about 400hp.

Smile T04E or b

Grantmac,

Iv'e been researching the same turbine family now for about 3 weeks , got some really good scoop in the single turbo FAQ and from RacerXtreme7 (Thanks M) and if tis the T04E or B its good for anywhere from 300~425ish depending on turbine trim, compressor size, and tuning of the car itself. in a nutshell heres what he sent me
quote from the PM he sent me

But if you feel the need to go full T04 turbo, heres what I'd recommend.

T04E 57 trim comp wheel
T04E .60 A/R 3" inlet 2" discharge comp housing.
T04E back plate
360 degree thrust bearing
standard T4 CHRA (I always recommend a wet {water cooled} center section because your turbo will last a lot longer {sometimes over 100% life of that that is dry})
T4 P-Trim turbine
T4 P-Trim .84 divided, tang turbine housing.

end quote

now this was for a 300~350 hp very fast spooling street driven car. if ya want a more top end oriented unit you need a bigger turbine houseing anywhere from .96~1.15 the bigger the turbine houseing (hot side) the slower the spool, but the less restriction = more top end = bigger grease stain when you slam into wall but it makes its boost slower as a result , like i said I wanted a very fast spooling turbo but with more oomph than a stocker or hybrid stock.

the difference between the E, and the B variant seems to lie as to where they make more power low boost~large volume vs higher boost with slighty lower volume and what seems to be a narrower (but higher) powerband.

From what I've read it uses a T3 flange and it's a mitsubishi turbo. I'll go get some numbers off of it tonight.
