Before I could get it re-installed on my wide body, my mechanic stepped on my targa bar & broke an 8in piece off the top section! You can imagine my horror when he told me. How hard are targa bars to come by & how much $ can I expect to pay? I’ve absolutely got to have one.

 

1 piece or 3 piece. I've heard the one pieces are damn near impossible.. The 3 pieces are a bit easier.

 

hard to come by i think...be ready to fork out a good amount of cash...

 

if its one piece i think there's one located in one of the kitchener/cambridge junkyards, try asking over at the canadian forum, i saw it in the summer, so it might not be there any more.

 

Why do you care how much it costs? It is your mechanic's responsibility to find and replace it.

 

You can find non original ones on ebay cheap. The original was a 3 piece. I just happen to have one, (original) in my closet. However, the original is not cheap. Don't get in a hurry looking for one. I don't really see me using it so PM me and let me check on a fair price. I don't want to give it away, but I don't want to rip you off either so it's up for disscusion if you want it.

i sold one on E-bay this summer for $250 CDN I have a few more i would sell ouright for $225...saving myself he pain in the *** of e-bay

 

Did you like buy a case of Targa bands in 1981 or something ? How did you accumulate targa bands ?

 

im going to sound stupid for this, but i dont care. what the hell are targa bands??? i looked at that link to the ebay auction, and the pic doesnt help.

 

It is a piece that goes between your rear side windows and the doors.

is that suppose to help in anyway ... (ie body stress, or twisting) or is just a look

 

visual only... supposedly was used to resemble a porsche targa, i think. Mine just helps hide the seams for the widebody kit.. (less molding)..

How do they mount? Bolt on, glue? Do they require drilling?

Just a couple screws hold them on.. you do have to drill a couple screw holes.. Nothing major.

Personal preference, I guess. I like the look on our car.
