Tachometer problems

I have an 84 with an 88 13B in it first off.

How would I go about hooking up the first gen tach to the new engine. I'm under the impression that there is only one wire off the trailing coil of the 13b that I run to the gauge, but I'm not positive. Anyone able to shed some light on this? Thanks.

Depends. Are you using a distributor or the ignition system from the '88?
