Tachometer no longer working

Let me first give the "fun" back story as to how my Tach stopped.

Wednesday night, driving home from work, the alternator belt broke. I found out when the the whole engine "died". I pulled off to the side of the road, popped the hood and went:

"Woah... the distributor cap came off, that explains why it died... WOAH, the distributor/ignition rotor is broken... WOAH... the alternator belt is broken."

So needless to say I had it towed home.

I put a new rotor, distributor cap, and belts on. The car fires up fine but now there's no response from the tach what-so-ever.

Any suggestions?

Pull a T plug wire off, Put a screw driver in it and hold it close to the bolt on the strut top, If you have spark then the ignition is working.

Thanks for the help. The problem ending up being that the tach cable had fallen off the trailing ignition. I found it this morning in the light. Working on cars during the day is SOOOooo much easier, than with a flashlight at night.
