swapping from auto to 5 sp...

ok well i found a perfect 81 that just needs a tune up for a grand, only 80 k miles. well almost perfect, its an automatic. how hard is it to switch the pedal assembly etc to put in a 5 speed? just would like to know before i buy it how hard it is. thanks for the help guys

it depends on what you would consider hard ... but I have heard it is a little expensive

Waaaay back when..... I did the exact same swap on an RX-2. It was eeeeasy and all the mount points were the same. If you have a doner 7 with all the parts, it shouldn't be that hard at all. Believe me, the RX-2 and the RX-7 ain't that much different. The hardest part is swapping in the flywheel. I say go for it!
