sunroof lifter thing

My sunroof rotary latch broke so I took it off yo see what was wrong with it. I wasnt about to pay 120 for a new one from VB. Well when I had it apart I got called in to work, and now that im back, I cant remember how the dang pieces went together. n00b I know.

Heres my question

Does this black piece go on the bottom or on the top?

Piece in bottom

Piece on top

Thanks

Ok thanks.

Will I got some good ol trusty JB weld and I plan on using that so that way it doesnt keep coming loose from the base.

Maybe Midwest 7 can take a pic of one of his for me.

I believe it goes the way you have it in the picture. The gold screw area needs to face up so that the metal base that latches gets secured to it. The large feed screw is what makes the sunroof go up and down. Don't know if I make any sense to you but hopefully it helped somewhat. LOL

I believe the ears do point to the top. I have had to JB Weld mine 3-4 times, cause it was broke when I bought the car. I spose I'll get around to buying a replacement, someday....

Here is how I have it now.

It looks like RX Sevens set up, and I know that his works. Thanks for all yalls help.

The ears pointing up doesnt make since. That would case a gap between the plate and the screw holes. So I think it is correct the way I have it set up now.

Damn, your's is red too....LOL
As long as it works, I really don't think it matters that much. Just a tip, I added a screw thru the **** into the center of the unit, and it seems to be holding far better. Without the screw, it would just pop back apart, cause the JB Weld doesn't stick to the underside of the **** very well.

Yep, mine is red. I love red interior, both my FB's have red interior. When I get my FD it will have red interior too. I think im about the only one that likes red. lol

How did you screw it? Mine has a little metal bit that goes in the star shape thing on the base.

Drilled a small hole into the brass piece in the center, and thru the ****. Then used a short (>1/2") sheet metal screw. I no longer have the center trim in the ****, cause it poped off while drilling the hole.
Of course, I did all of that before adding a fresh coat of JB.
Just something to keep in mind, should it come back apart.

I like red to Matty, I have two with red interiors and a crap brown spare.

Red looks too cool with aluminum trim kit and wooden steering wheel and shift ****.

Yeah, red interior rules, 'specially with a bright red exterior. I think it's FD red......... Not original paint, for sure, that was R3 Renisence red (or however ya spell it)
