Sun Visors - 1983 rx7

Anyone else have issues with the 1983 rx7 sun visors flapping everywhere at turns. I recall never having this issue with my 1985 but these are so annoying that I actually removed them. Does anyone have any input on how to make them more stiff where it swivels back and forth?

Where it swivels left and right - or where it tilts up and down? If it flops left and right badly, the typical problem is that the plastic barrel that holds the steel pivot rod has broken up inside the mount. Remove the 2× Phillips head screws that hold the mount and you can pull it down to inspect. I've used a soldering iron to plastic weld the mount barrel back together several times and it works pretty well. Given the type of soft plastic, you're going to need to weld deep and make sure its a complete weld. Forget glue - it won't hold at all.

If they're flopping up and down (*won't stay up), you,can remove the visor element from the rod easily and add some heavy grease to the rod, or stick some electrical tape to the rod and reinsert into the visor. That should hold it.
