Subframe/Frame Dimensions?

Okay guys, I am still working on dimensions and ideas for what I will need to fabricate for when I have a parts car RX8 to tear apart for my planned build.

Its a long way off now, but I'd rather get the design issues mostly squared away before I do any cutting or mounting, plus I have a feeling it is going to take a while to design what I will be using...

So, I need help from you guys on a few things...

1.) Does anyone have measurements of our axle width; brake rotor to brake rotor? RX8 measures in at 60" Front and Rear.

2.) I haven't been under my car in a bit, so stupid question; Do we use a subframe? and if so what are the dimensions? RX8 is roughly 2ft long by 30" wide

3.) does any one have some decent pics of the rear end of the frame? I need to know if its worth or even plausible to mount the rear IRS Subframe or just stay rear solid axle...

Thanks for your help guys!

No subframe per say, just a cross member up front with the live axle out back. If I were you I'd go out and measure your own car, that way you can get a good view of everything. Not sure what you're planning on doing, but getting under you car would be an important part of the whole thing

Yeah now I just need to set aside some time to bring in into the shops and hoist it up...

My plan was to see if it were possible to do an full Subframe, PowerTrain, and Independent rear Suspension from an RX8...

I want the technical challenge... My idea was to stray away from widebody kits and at max roll the fenders a max of two inches on each side if needed...

Just a crazy work intensive project is all :P

I can relate to that, building something just for the hell of building it. If you go forward with the project I would definatly be interested in seeing it come together.
I like fabricating things as well and have often thought about similar projects, good luck!
