Angry Stupid Canadian Tire Store!! (novel)

Hey Guys,

I'm here to recount my three major troubles when I bought some of my brake parts from Canadian Tire.

First off, I went in and ordered two front brake rotors, a set of front pads, two inner front wheel bearings, and a set of rear brake shoes.

So I get home with all my new parts (which they had to order, 24hr delivery to the local store) and I start taking my parts out of the box and setting them on my desk for display :P. As I take the second rotor out and flip it over, I see a huge blotch of TAR-like crap on the under-side about the size of my palm, on the braking surface of the rotor! So I take it back down there and I'm like "hey! my brake pads aren't gonna slide over this very well!". They were very nice, exchanged the rotor, wrote it off as defect, and ordered me a new one on same-day delivery.

So this leads to problem 2. The next day, I'm sitting at my computer and I decide to try the new pads in their seats in the caliper holding bracket. And they don't fit! So I find this odd, run outside, grab my old pads, try them, and they fit perfectly (of course). So I go *back* to Canadian Tire with my caliper in hand, the old pads, and the new ones. I get to the part counter and since it's the weekend now, there's some stupid 18yr old kid behind the counter. I show him the calipers, and how the old pads fit. Then I show him an old pad and a new pad, which are shaped *completely differently*. He punches the serial number into the computer, and replies (with a heavy french accent) "These pads are for the rear of the car" to which I say "huh? That's STUPID! I ordered *shoes* for the rear (points to recipt where it says "rear shoes"), why would I order pads and shoes for the rear of the same vehicle? These pads are supposed to match the rotors I bought for the front *points to the recipt for rotors*"

And his response: "Well, uh, maybe you didn't know if you needed pads or shoes for the rear, so you bought them both!"... Stupid kid. I ask the kid if I can exchange the rear pads for front ones. He types it into the computer, and says "that's 5$ +tax more". I'm like "no it's not! I came in yesterday and ordered premium front brake pads. The person here said that would be 25 dollars. Am I supposed to be watching you when you punch parts numbers into the computer? How am I supposed to tell one part number from the next?"

I ask to see the manager. The parts dept manager wasn't there, so I saw the STORE manager. I explain to him what's going on, and he tells the kid "do it. Give it to him for the other price, it's our fuckup"

So on to problem number THREE!. Today I'm online checking my bank statement, and I notice the Canadian Tire stuff went through... TWICE! Two charges of 343.15$ on my visa, same day, one after another. I call Visa, and they can't do anything until they issue the paper statement and I recieve it through the mail. Once that happens, all I have to do is call them, and they will *then* have the legal right to take action about this. I won't have to worry about it.

GEEZ! All of this to say: Canadian Tire, trust their parts, not their people! The parts are great, at great prices, IF they give you the right ones.

And because of a shipping ****-up at Victoria British, I'm *still* waiting on my SS hoses, and my front and rear pad and shoe mounting clips and hardware.

Man that is a shitty story, but these F*%k Canadian Tire threads are becoming more and more prevelent. I find the Staff is only helpful, if and only if they want to be.

I find good staff at CTC is becoming very hit and miss where ever you go.

Good luck with getting the double charge resolved.

Have fun putting your new parts on.

I've been in that situation b4,

But the new www.driverfx.com from canadian tire is amazing. The prices are soooooo much better than any other performance shop.

You can get EVERYTHING, I just bought a ton of parts and driverfx was cheaper on just about everything. I over paid on my shocks bigtime! next time I'll be ordering from there. and it gives you shipping times ususally 1 day. Better than any other shop that i've seen
