STRONG rear end gears 85 gsl-se 4 v8 conversion

anyone know where i can find heavy duty rear end gears for my gsl-se?

im doing the ls1 conversion... (please please please please be mature and keep the negative comments to yourself.. thats all i ask.. i know there are die hard rotary people out there.. thats great.. sorry to offend you for saying the P word.. thank you.)

any tips on how to come by a stronger rear end affordably / realistically?

also does anyone know of besides the grannys page where i can find kits for this?

i want one that is proven to make the engine sit as far back as physically possible without cutting into the firewall..

thanks in advance

As far as the rearend goes, you will need to swap out to an American made unit. Not only will this give you a much stronger gear set and axles, which can be beefed up with aftermarket parts, you will also get a wider range of gear ratios at a much cheaper price than Mazdas.

There is also a company in Canada, Python I believe, that does conversions. They may have engine mount kits.

You might post this questions in the other engine section too.

I believe Granny's has a conversion to fit an 8.8 in Ford rear in to a 1st gen. Looks interesting.

Yea,Id be more worried about twisting an axle before you stripped the R&P.

The 84-85's had bigger axles, but they're still tiny compared to an 8.8" Ford or Dana 44.
