Strange vibrating noise.
Hello all,
My series 2 often makes a strange vibrating/resonating sound under light braking (more often while turning under light braking). Sometimes it seems to come from the front and sometimes from the back. I have no idea whats causing it. Is this a common problem?
Possible causes i've eliminated:
(1) old pads => now replaced
(2) missing anti-rattle springs in brake calipers? => not missing.
(3) rotors need machining => no, there is no vibration through the pedal or steering wheel and the problem is intermittant.
thanks for any help.

localized instabilities--hot spots--develop in the rotors when the brakes are applied at high speeds. These hot spots are localized expansions of the metal in the rotor, producing raised areas that drag a little more aggressively against the rotor to cause a condition known as brake "judder."
if it is this the only way to correct it is by machining or replacing.
