hi i was driving my maz the other day when i pulled into the shops i heard this pretty firm clunk sound and is starting to scare me i did an oil change yesterday and i jack the car on its side to try and remove most of the oil and i thought oh yeah ill just inspect my front left wheel area for the clunking noise nothing out of the ordinary but as the car still being jacked up i grabbed the front left wheel and moved it as if someone was turning the steering wheel then i looked in the engine bay and noticed when i tunr the wheel the steering pivot joint thing opposite the spark plugs moves like a really loose headset on a bike looks like some sort massive rubber gommit could someone please help

 

check your u-joints

 

sounds like the idler arm, their was a recent post on this with an upgraded alternative. It is an easy install.
