The stock water and oil senders have no connection to the ECU,they just control the factory gauges. The 1st gen oil press. sender will screw into the TII block, retaining accurate readings.
If you run an 87-early 88 TII block,it may still have the small metric threads for the water temp sender, which means the 1st gen water sender will also screw right in.Later engines and all Mazda replacement housings will have larger,1/8 pipe threads for the water temp, which means the 1st gen sender will not fit.In that case youll have to relocate the 1st gen sender and run a new wire.I put mine on the top of the water outlet, just below the alternator. It the hottest part of the cooling system and gives a more accurate max temp reading than the stock location out back.
