stock manifold problems, help
I recently swaped engines in my 79, but I need it to get back and forth to school so for the time being I am using the stock 79 12A intake on an 83 12A. When I start the car exhaust comes out of a port on the center iron just below the two intake ports (see picture). My question is does an aftermarket intake cover this port, and for the time being would it be safe to block it off some how?

Go buy a product called Quicksteel. It's like a tootsie roll that you manipulate in your hands for a bit, then psuh it into the port. Try to install the entire contents and it should do a pretty good job blocking the port. It would be best if there were no oil/carbon deposits, but what are you gonna do?

If i'm correct that port is for the emissions. It's for the air control valve. Since the Sa's had a thermal reactor and different emission system. I would not recommend sealing it permantely. Rather put some aluminum foil in there for now to block it off. If you block it off completley and then install the 83 intake whatever function it has for emissions thru the air control vlave will be hampered and when you go in for smog it just may be a problem.
