if you are going to rebuild the 12a might as well bridge port it and slap a side draft carburetor. ;p

Well, if you went turbo with intercooler, then it would have to be a blow through system, so your carb would have to be very specifically tuned or you would bog at varying spots on the rpm band. If you don't know a lot about blowthrough/drawthrough DON'T 'slap on' a turbo. If you port however, it's a lot less work in the long run, and cost effective. Turbo systems are expensive to set up.
Personally, I think you BEST option is to get a sterling carb at http://www.sterlingmetalworks.com/ the mechanical secondarys give you a lot of the power you need while maintaining the streetability that webbers and hollys won't get you.

If your goal is to have fun with your car; suspension, suspension, suspension. Get your parts from re-speed and you won't be lacking. You'll have a lot more control and stability with your car. Personally I think whipping around corners is WAY more fun than just trying to go fast in a straight line.

go fast parts and suspention is the way to go. I love carving corners, but I like to exit out of them like a bat outta hell! I want to go turbo someday also. But I plan on studying about it long before I do it. The sound of a turbo, just gives me a that funny feeling like when I'm looking at boobies

Theres draw through turbo setups and blowthrough setups. and then theres FI. blow through and FI lets you use an intercooler, where as drawthrough doesn't i believe. fi is the easyest to tune Thats why I'm just going to do a t2 swap when my engine takes a poo on me.

this is good information. If i streetport the engine doesnt the durability of the engine decrease i just wanna know how many km's i can get out of a streetported engine. The original engine has 258xxx on it and still going????????

The engine porting itself won't affect durability. The more agressive you port = more aggressive oiling system. Generally, the more you port the higher your opperating range will go. I street port will give you a little more top end and more power all around. Once you start J-Porting, Bridge or periferial porting you start down the road of high reving screamer.

I bolted a turbo on my street ported engine and it's fun

just depends on how you like to drive and HOW MUCH YOUR WILLING TO SPEND

Any time you increase an engine's performance you decrease it's longevity. Re-building these engines is incredibly expensive and getting somebody to do it for you is even worse.

Also, you can't intercooler drawthrough. Impossible. Draw through works by sucking air and fuel through the turbo and then blasting it into the engine. An intercooler works by haveing the turbo first push the air through it and then into the ending, and trying to blow the fuel through it as well just doesn't work. If you didn't know that already, you probably don't want to touch your engine until you do a lot more reading. And by a lot I mean A LOT. I spent a year reading about 7's before even touching mine, and that's with a few years of experience building race cars. If you are not fully versed in what each modification will do and how it will chainge your ride then you shouldn't do it. Start my reading every page in the faq section is a good place to start

Tru story all motor is easier but after a while you want more. atleast i did. ive been working on my blow thru setup/cleaning and fixing it up for a year but school and **** it slows me down its been real fun tho an im almost there. If you have the time/money i say go boost but if not throw a good carb on there and with a sp and good exhaust youll be happy...For awhile!
