Thumbs up Sticky throttle solved (kinda)

Many times my idle would stick at ~1-1.1k, other times it would drop to ~800 as it should. I noticed that when it's idling at 1k, if I push on the throttle linkage the idle would drop to 800. I lubed the heck out of the linkage to no avail; I adjusted the dashpot - to no avail. Then I got to thinking about how old the throttle return spring is (you know, like 18 years!) and the fact that all the throttle linkage is getting pretty old, too. Maybe the spring just wasn't up the task, anymore. I had some throttle springs laying around, but not the right size nor tension; and I was really too lazy to run out to the parts store. So I just "added" one that I had as a booster to the existing spring...

Problem solved. Throttle returns all the way and idle is at 800 as should be. Of course, it kinda gave my accelerator pedal a woody. Ya know what I mean? - kinda STIFF, but not bad...

great!

I just noticed mine doing the same thing today. Of course, the car has been sitting for 4 months while I was away a college. Now is the time to fix all the little crap like that. Thanks for the tip.
