Starving for fuel?

Ok well besides all my ignition issues lately......
Car idles, runs, and drives perfectly. Recently when I really beat on her I hit 3 gear after redlining second and it seems to starve for fuel and bog down. Let of gas for a second and romp on it again it it goes. Carb was rebuilt last summer and never had this issue so I don't think it's a float issue. I'm thinking maybe low fuel pressure? Only does it when really reving it out threw the gears at wot.

Yep, fuel filter. If not that, fuel pickup in tank. It's worth looking into. Literally.

Is your fuel pump stock? I run a weber redline fuel pump on most stripped and modded nikki's I do, and it works flawlessly. And is silent. The stocker is actually a bit small even for just a stripped nikki, so its smallishness may have prematurely burned it out...

Or it could just be the aforementioned fuel filter.

It does sound like either a faulty fuel pump or improper float level. Maybe the return line is clogged or the main line is kinked.

I'll have to check out the filter. Guess that's easiest thing to do first. Yes stock pump. Does the stripped nikki use that much more fuel? Mines stripped down to the bare bones with mechanical secondaries.

the stock pump has no margin to support extra power, and then add in 20 years of wear and a clogged fuel filter....

fuel filter should almost be changed once a year, they are like $1...
