When it comes to the point a starter replacement is necessary,always test the starter before bolting it in the car.New/reman doesn't matter,saves some swear words when you turn the key after thinking you're all done. Jumper cables and screwdriver all that's needed.
I decided to go with a replacement S4 NA starter for my FB.
Instead of finding a longer bolt I decided to try installing an M10 Rivnut to essentially thread the hole like our FB starters are... I had to drill out the hole slightly, and then installed a Rivnut by flaring it a little bit with a washer to back it up on the flange. I think just a bit of a flare is necessary so that the knurled section of the Rivnut will grip the aluminum housing.
And Rivnuts seem like a handy thing to have around anyway. Can get a metric assortment for like $15 on Amazon.

I recently just replaced the Original Mitsubishi Starter on my 84 GSL-SE with the exact same refurbished Mitsubishi Unit i got from Advanced Auto Parts .....no issues ....
