starter motor won't stop running

starter motor won't stop running
The other day i had the car running and while it was running i heard some hight pitch sound so i turned the car off and the starter motor was running wild so i took of the battery cable make it stop. I know it is not the starter, at least i dont' think so. could somebody help me?

the starter is obviously getting constant power. Could be something shorting out @ the starter, or your ignition switch.
