SS brake line legnth with RE Speed kit
SS brake line legnth with RE Speed kit
I'm going to get a SS custom set of front brake lines made for my RE Speed big brake kit. SA brake line To TII caliper. What is the legnth of line that i need? Anyone have a set not installed yet??
i got mine custom made by a local tubes and hoses builder. just the front two lines was $75, not cheap. if i remember correctly i think theyre 14". thats if you have the hard lines coming from the calipers. if youd like i could measure for you later today.
also, a much easier route would probably be to cut the end of your line and change the threaded nut to one with the newer thread pattern and but lines straight from a company. i know Dan bought lines from mazdatrix. i dont know if they screw striaght on the stock lines or not. they also eliminate the hard line from the caliper. id go the same route he did if i could take it back.
youll need to have a double flaring kit if you plan on changing your thread pitch. i rented one from autozone for $25. it was manual, but it was relatively easy to use and i got all my money back when i returned it.

This summer I installed the Russell Stainless Steel Lines on my 84Gsl and what a difference. No more spongy when Hard Braking.
Make sure you do all 4 Wheels and the Chassis Line or you will end up with some flexing on the Rubber Lines since the Stainless Lines do not Flex @ all.
Bought them thru Summit Racing for $89.88.
Part # RUS-685550
Includes all 4 Lines plus the Chassis Line.
This kit is for 4 Wheel Disc Brakes.
But they also have the Disc-Drum ones also. Same Price.
I went to the Hydaulic Shop thats done alot of work for me in the past and they wanted $175.00 for the same setup as above.
Russell makes excellent Hosses and Fittings. I have used them on most of my project cars when it was to expensive to have them made and never have had a Failer.
