Squealing noise
Does anyone have any idea as to what could cause a squealing noise on my RX7. It only occurs when i reach around 3500 revs and does not happen when in lower revs. At first i thought the water pump but i have replaced the pump with no difference at all. I have checked the fan clutch and from the tests it seems fine but it is difficult to be sure. Any ideas??
Thanks

This is almost always due to a slipping belt, which can be caused by improper tension, old dried/hardened belt or removal of the air pump. Check the alternator belt. Deflection should be no more than 1/2" on the long side, midway between the 2 pulleys If it's more than that, tighten the pulley. If the air pump has been removed, you will need to go to a dual sheave pulley on the alt or the addition of the yoohoo belt.

I had a similar problem start by checking belt tension if it is ok move on check for play in the flywheel if that is ok check the timing for some reason if timing is off on the car it will squeal so check it out. My car was doing the same thing when I was on the highway I would punch it and get nothing but loss of power and squealing sound. It was the timing being off that caused it then my water pump went like 2 or 3 weeks later but thats is a different squeal as it did it all the time before it just went.
