Spiders!!!!

I just wanted to share a terror. I picked up the car that I am beginning to restore, and it is infested with wolf spiders!! This is gonna be more work than I thought. This is what I get for getting a free car.

Place a bug bomb in the car.. that will get them... Funny story- Today i rode my 05 CBR to work (35 miles one way) first time in about 2 weeks.. Parked the bike looked down and WHAM!!! right there was a little green tree frog hanging on for dear life! Anyways, I always have to fight critters when I work on my cars, that is what i get for living in the south.

spiders don't bug me at all... neither do frogs!

but hornets/bees/wasps.. augh!

you know, I think if I looked at an FD that they wanted $500 for and it was mint, but was infested with wasps... I wouldn't buy it.. I hate the bastards!

(actually, I would buy it, but not go near it till someone ELSE killed them ALL and removed the dead ones... )

just be thankful they don't have the spiders over here that they have in Australia. I was looking at an S2 when I was over there that had been sitting for a year, and above the visor there was a BIG *** Huntsman (about the size of my hand if not bigger), that fell into my lap. Scared the absolute **** out of me, even though they aren't poisonous.

My friends 94 mustang gt has been sitting for about 3years due to a broke auto tranny (and him being a total lazy bastard) and it is INFESTED with black widows. If you sit in that car for 2minutes, you will have to go to the hospital. I've had a *white black widow land on my lap when I was driving my car, pulled down the visor and the bastard landed RIGHT next to a little hole in my pants (by the crotch of course) I squised that thing so dam fast it didn't even have time to see it coming.

We have huntsman here too, they arent poisonous and neither are the wolf spiders, but damn the size of my hand, I laid off 2 bug bombs so far and gonna do another one before I tear out the interior. My fiancee just IMed me and apparently one of them made it in the house, she said the spider spray I bought just got it wet and didnt phase the nasty bastard. Oh well, time to call the Orkin man

I thought I was the only one afraid of **** living off of my 7. I can't win with these damn hornets though. The last two years they've been inside the rear bumper. So I finally go ambitious with a nice cold morning. I'd flat-foot my bumper and watch them fall out. I only expected maybe 4 or 5 hornets. A whole god damn hive was in it. I swear the nest was the size of my foot (size 10 mens). If it were an Olympic race...I'd have won by a landslide. I got them back though, I bought 2 cans of this spray that shoots about 10 feet. The back half of the car, and the ground around it were nothing but a white foam of insect death. I felt like I had won a victory for mankind...

Large easily visible insects are better than small ticks and spiders, or even worse the diseases they carry. I bought an antique car formerly home to a large colony of mice and filled with droppings. To clean it out I wore military gas mask and chem warfare gear sprayed with DEET. You can get hantavirus from breathing the dust of rodent ****, and should not use a broom or vacuum. The fleas can carry plague, etc.

I had mice in my first FB they made it there home, bathrood and cemitery all at the same time.

It took alot of work to get the smell out, I drove that car for two years, and then bought one that had been garage stored, and babied real good so it is clean and I no longer smell like mouse...

BTW break claner makes great wasp killer

once my cat was missing, he got outside somehow and went underneath my dads truck. My dad drove all the way to dunkin donuts ( 20 mile drive) with the cat underneatht the truck! As soon as he parked the cat jumped out from underneath lol.

I've heard that you can keep rodents away from your car by placing shavings of Zest bar soap in the car. They apparently don't like the smell.

Maybe so, but I have also heard that if you drive the car occasionally they don't tend to like that either

what are you guys doing? trying to start mini museums with your cars? put some miles on the poor things and the critters won't infest them

for the purposes of this thread, the line titled "lions and tigers and bears Oh My!" has been changed to "spiders and wasps and mice Oh my!"

From: Acworth GA,
My 81 sat in my garage for about 4 month's. I went down to work on it and notice little brown bumps all over the hood that looked like they were moving. It turn's out there were about 300 baby spiders that had hatched somewhere. They wer all in the engine bay all over the front of my car. only thing I had handy was windex, Killed em all nice and clean, the car was shinny too.
