speedometer cable removal.

can i remove it from the transmission without draining fluid?
on level ground will gear oil come out of the hole.
need to remove the gauge cluster and can only think of disconnecting at the transmission to get some slack. i don't have long midget hands to go under the dash to disconnect at the cluster..

thanks
chris

It shouldn't leak.

Another way to get slack is to simply disconnect the cable from the various hangers.
