speedo quits when i turn left?
This is messed up. This just started happenin a couple days ago, i went on about a 30 mile drive, and part way through, i turned the wheel left (not very far, just for a smooth corner) and my speedo stopped working. But when i turned the wheel back to the right, it would start working again. WTF?
Why would this be? Am i going to need a new speedo cable? WHAT SHOULD I DO? This is very annoying, but at least ill have a good answer when the cop asks "son, do you have any idea how fast you were going?"
"sorry sir, i actually have no f*ckin clue...but i was in third gear at about 6,500RPMs...so id say about 65?"

I'm racking my brain for you, but knowing how our speedo's work it's a mystery. It doesn't seem like a cable issue if it only happens when you turn left.
My ideas thus far:
One: could be the gear on the cable going into the trans. is slideing thus when you turn left it dosen't make contact to the gear it rides on in the trans ---hope that make sense to people beside myself...
Two: the mechinism (sp) in your speedo is shot. If you have ready access to another speedo --- swap it out and see if that's it.
Otherwise I'm at a loss.

Start at the tranny, make sure your cable is screwed in tight, then follow it towards the engine bay and make sure the cable is still in the clips and tied down.
If that is up to par, reach in behind the cluster and make sure the cable is clipped into the back of the speedo.
2 other questions. Do the speedo, odometer and trip odometer work? When you make a left turn and it quits, does the speedo jump higher than your actual speed when it begins working again? If it jumps, then the cable in the sheath is probably binding somewhere. Unhook it at the tranny and pull the entire cable out, clean with brake cleaner and re-lube with white lithium grease. (comes in a spray can)
If the odometer etc. are not accurate, then it's probably teeth missing or stripped in the gears somewhere.
And just on the off chance, check your tranny and motor mounts, primarily the tranny.

THANKS!
ill give what you said a try today...then get back to ya'll.
*edit* and to answer your question, yes, everything else seems to work just fine, and, no, the speedo doesnt jump up higher than my actual speed when it kicks back on (thank god).
