huh, when I put ATF in my car, most of the smoke came out of the small pipe next to the muffler. Maybe my thermal reactor collapsed??? Dunno. I saw most of it come out of the little pipe, and very little come out of the muffler. I wonder why? Oh well, It doesnt run well anyways.

I would still like to know if doing a MMO treatment will mess up my cat. Some people say yes, some say no. It seems split evenly 50/50, but i cant afford to fix it if it **** up me Cat. Therefore, I will wait till somebody else does it and let them be the guinea pig

 

couldn't you just do the ATF treatment
then before firing it up
unbolt the cat, fire it up let it burn the ATF off
real loud real smoky
then bolt the cat backup?

 

79+80.. i donot think that that is anything to worry about... that is just a place for extra air to escape..

amazing: the cats are not made to have that stuff running through it.. so i would not take the chance.. everything that i have heard says that it will destroy them

 

Extra air??? I was told by peejay, the way the emmissions work with the thermal reactor. He says nothing but dry air should come out there..... So all I can figure is the thermal reactor collapsed, before I bought the car, and thats why is flooding with a carb from a different engine that worked fine on the other engine..... That, and the fact, that I dont think NON of the hoses are hooked up corectly on it Like, there is no hoses from the carb to the air cleaner, when I thought there should be. Only smog stuff. So I need help cause the manual, is a BITCH

i riped my thermal reactors out.. best move i ever made. i remember the pipe though, just thought that that was what it was for.. i never really looked in to it

 

What did you do, get a header, and new pipe all the way to the muffler??? Oh well, thanx. Any body know???

one of these days i will get a cat pipe made so that i can pass the sniffer part of emissions...

First time i fired up my 79, all the smoke spilled out the '3rd tailpipe' also. It that pipe is supposed to feed cool air to the thermal reactor, so is my understanding, and there's no actual opening from that pipe into the exaust, so if the smoke comes out, your thermal reactor is cracked inside, and is a good excuse to get headers

BTW, you can get headers without getting the rest of the exaust. However, with nothing but a muffler, expect it to be loud and raunchy. You might wanna hook up a presilencer
