Sparodic Fuse Blowing
I have an '80 SA. Great shape, always been garaged and babied, 66k original miles. I got it from my sister 4 years ago, she got it new.
Since I've had it, it's blown the 15A engine fuse a total of 5 times over that 4 years (about 12k miles). Every time the fuse has gone, popping in a new fuse results in another 6 or 8 months of AOK operation. I've done some ohm-ing and inspection of wiring (not every inch) for that circuit and everything seems fine.
I just keep a box of 15A handy, but I'm wondering if anyone out there has had a similiar problem and what the resolution was. Someone suggested trying a 20A fuse in there.
The 5 times that it happened do not seem to correlate, that is, I wasn't doing the same thing (like turning hard left) each time it occured.
Thanks in advance.

I don't think going to a 20A is the thing to do. Unfortunatly tracing a short is time consuming and can be teadious. I haven't blown any fuses, but it took me awhile to figure out why my turn signals would work most of the time and suddenly just quit and then be fine for months again. I may be wrong but I was always taught that going to a higher amp fuse is not much different then wrapping foil around one.

OK, if it's really a intermittent short (1 short every 8 months is pretty intermittent) then any hints or tricks on how to find such a beast? Or would it be easier to just keep a box of 15A fuses handy until the problem becomes worse?
