Unhappy son of a B&^# need more compression...rebuild problems....

Well I reused my old side plates and they were not too great...I thrashed my other overported ones that were nice and lapped.

New apex springs/seals, gaskets, corner springs, mega exhaust port, streetport,

Now my problem is building enough compression to be able to start the engine normally with the ignition key. It's starts and idles perfectly at 900-1000rpms when push started. Drove to the gas station for gas. I left this one idlying for about 4 hours and ajusted the carb and timing while at it. Shut it off and nope, it wouldn't want to start after that.

Break in process is going to be long for this one...hopefully the seals will seat in...

Sure its compression? or is it too much timing overlap? if you try to port the intake and go to far or any towards the E shaft the motor is a nice door stop and a conversation piece, when yuo ported it , you knew what you were doing right?

yeap mike...I used both templates intake is streetported and nope I didn't go towards the e-shaft at all. Actually going towards the e-shaft will mess up the engine by screwing up the oil control rings but it will start ...but the side plates are really bad and compression is low (like 45-50psi, I tested it already. Trust me it's gonna have to be cracked open, lapped and new seals put in. Guys I highly recommend getting new side seals too, I'm not going to make this mistake twice.

Anyhow, I drove a few miles today and still no compression buildup...I'll give it 2 more tries and then I'll just **** rev the crap out of it even without proper break in. This sucker is really quick, tested it to about 4.5k rpms and a slight punch to 5k, still trying to baby it, but took my friends beemer and a modded ZC honda CRX JDM that pulls constant flat 15s today just playing around...and that just to 5k, so I guess I'll use the engine for a few weeks, feels really fun , I got a stock engine as back up, some nice carbon seals and maybe I'll pick another engine to bridge.

Mike how is your project coming along?
