some racing beat questions

I came across a rb street header and pre silencer that someone is selling used. I want them for my 83 project car (12a) but when I checked the part numbers he gave me on RB's site it says they are for a 84/85. Whats the difference? I would have thought all the 12a cars used the same exhaust (aftermarket at least, I know the stock systems varied) When I bought the exhaust for my 83 S a year ago this issue didn't come up cause I bought it new and just told mazdatrix it was for a 83. Anyway, will these parts work? TIA
Sean

if the part # that was given is for 84/85, it could be for the se which had the fi 13b so it won't fit a 12a. otherwise, the header for the 12a will fit all 12a's.

The Lengths and places where the joints are changes on the years. Some have a long stock header some have a short. 79 - 80 had the two pipe system. IIRC.

IF you are going to fab the rest of it then it does not matter, It only matters if you are trying to only replace part of the stock system.

As said, I think its just the mounting points. I couldnt figure it out when I bought my stuff new, and I bought my setup for an 83 which is what it was going on, and its currently on an 85, so I dunno. Although, the only thing holding it on the 85 is the header bolts and the muffler mounts (bad I know, but I didnt have the rest of the ****), so I dont know if the mounts are actually the same or not.
