some good improvements

Just a couple of suggestive good improvements for your stock 1st Gen. I replaced the stock brake hoses with S/S hoses and couldn't believe the difference! I have an 85 GS with all disk brakes and with changing just the lines I now have rock solid braking. I use my 85 as a daily driver and I removed the anti-sway bar and couldn't believe the improved handling especially in the cornering control. I would recommend this to anyone just doing the daily driving thing. I rebulit the stock carb myself and have removed the rat's nest and replaced the exhaust with a straight into a small resinator with a S/S Magnaflow. Sounds great a runs even better. I can get 3 gear scratch with no problem and am averaging about 23 mpg. My next investment is an RB or Pacesetter header. Happy 7's everyone.

sway bar

yes, the anti-sway bar on the rear, totally made a big difference with the oversteer and cornering

Just take off the rear bar? Why are you guys doing that? Are you oversteering that much while street driving? Is this for the track or the strip? I just bought new rear end links,if the car is going to handle alot better I won't put them on. I am aware of my 85s's willingness to oversteer. I just want to know what I might be sacrificing.

I have been looking for SS brake lines for my 1980 SA with rear drum brakes. The only DOT approved SS lines I can find are for the cars converted to rear disc. The others are for racing and are not DOT approved.

Does it matter if they are DOT approved? Or can anyone tell me where to get DOT approved SS lines for front disc and rear drum?

www.RacingBeat.com
Has both for rear drum or disc but not DOT approved.

www.MazdaTrix.com
DOT approved but only with rear disc.

I've got mine still on my daily driver. Only time I have any real problem is in the rain and that is only if I'm being stupid and gun it a little going around some particular corners here On a dry day I'd have to be really over the speed limit at the those same areas to get any type of slide. Of course I like oversteer better than plowing.
