Angry So.... I think my motor is shot...

It used to have decent get up and go, but since I had the brakes done at the dealer, it barely gets out of its own way Does anyone know a place to get a good replacement motor for an 83 GS in otherwise good condition? I am not looking to mod it really, but I want something that will make it respond like it is supposed to... How much should I spend? Are rebuilts worth it?

rebuilt engines are pretty damn expensive,
about $1,500.00

try ebay to get a rebuild kit and do it your self,

i have seen the go for around $300.00

I wouldn't even know where to start to do a rebuild... How hard is it? The dealer said that I have one rotor shot. What exactly does that mean?

its means low compression on one of the rotors,
which means one or more of your apex seals are shot,

think of an apex seal as a piston ring

they are designed to last a really long time but if you dont keep your oil and internal components of your engin clean then they will go bad,

the apex seal is designed to "push out" as it wears,
so you never know exactly how worn it is until it is all the way gone,

pretty eficient huh

have you thought about the atf trick?

i will post some old thread in a second,
i have to dig them up

check if your brakes are dragging before you get a new motor.
