So I bought a used Carter fuel pump from another member...

... And it's not the same model that another member did a very nice step by step on.

I have no clue how to wire it up. I was counting on this to get the car up and running before the snow flies on Monday.

Here's a couple pics of it. Any info is appreciated.

Well if I am thinking right that brass nipple\connector on the bottom {pick #3} is your power and the ground goes anywhere you want aroung the pump...

If I am not right someone PLEASE correct me...

Yea I did that too, was entertaining to say the least.... If theres only one post on there then thats positive and it gets ground through the pump body itself. If I were you I'd put some hose on there and suck up some fluid (anything will work) with it to test it before you go installing it.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing, but since I've never seen it before, I figured I'd throw a couple pics up... I don't want to fry anything.

You mean with that side up, yes? I'll probably have to put it on the frame rails then.

Yea it has to be up and down like pic 1 or it won't work for ****. Be warned, it's gonna be loud as hell, try to rubber mount it to the frame rail or something.

Do not use rubber or you wont get a ground this one will be loud and you'll have to put up with it, your mounting bolts are your ground.

^ it all depends on how you use the rubber... if you just slide a rubber washer of sorts between the bracket and the chassis, it will still conduct.

Yeah, as long as there is some sort of metal touching, it should be fine. I'll probably isolate the pump from the frame rails with a couple rubber washers, the bolt will still contact metal.

If you run a seperate wire from one of the screw to the frame and ground it, you will be able to insulate the bracket and quiet the beast down. Looks like a old carter pump because their pumps have 2 posts on them and the standard 3 bolt multi mount bracket that attaches to the top. Napa offers a parts pack to quiet down the carter pumps. You might want to check what it consists of.

IIRC, carter is made by allied but with a higher PSI; stuff they sell at local parthouses. That pix is longer and skinnier than the carter/allied.
