Was given my first car in 1938, single seat battery powered! Taught to drive in a Bugatti 37A which I wish I now owned.

Currently a young 68, and love my RX-7 1985 convertible as a real classic. Its totally reliable, and this year it has been driven in conditions ranging from snow over a mountain pass at minus 8 degrees C to desert outback at 44C.

Owned my 80 since it was brand new on the showroom floor. Now i own a 85 GSL-SE, and a 86 Base. Talked my dad into buying a 90 vert. He's 68, if I could get him to post here he would win the age award. I am saving my 80 for my eight year old son.
My girlfriend says that this is some sort of whacked out cult. But she loves to drive the second gen and the 80.

'85 convertible?? Is it a custom one-off or did you type the wrong year? I hope I'm still as active as Mr.Fitz when I get there....currently 39....

49 for another two weeks. Original owner of an '84 GS that I bought when I was 29. Don't put me in the geezer category until next month. Meanwhile, I'm performing all my own work on the car - because there are no mechanics around here who are old enough to have experience working on a Gen1 Rotary and the ones who ARE old enough, can't remember how to.

Well, I'm 46 and got my first RX4 about 15 years ago.
I've only had my '80 RX7 for a couple of years now.

Hello, Attila the fun! Haven't heard from you in a while, hope everything is good with you. Did you ever find that breaker bar?

I am 29 and owned my first RX back in 1995 when I bought a mint condition 1980 gold colored RX7 with leather interior. Later traded it in for an eagle talon which I still regret to this day. Now own my 79 and love it.

Old Geezer

You've got me by a year. I'll be 56 in September. My son and I both have RX-7's that we race here in the Northeast and I have an '80 that I drive on the street.

Old don't mean slow!

I think I may be the oldest old fart on the forum at 73, I own a 85 GS and a 74 RX3 and have owned two others plus my 85S parts car plus a 65 VW Beetle, still get a ticket for ten over on occasion. Started driving and raceing a 35 Ford Coupe flat head v8 on a 1/4 dirt track at the fairgrounds at age 14. Age is only how you feel and think. Bob

What a wonderful idea..... a thread to show the young ones that there are "some old folk" that belong to this club.

Alright, the truth is, I'm 40 and female. However this is the only time I will admit this. Next time you ask... I'll tell you I'm 36.

Well, the sun is shining and the '85 GSL-SE that I bought directly from the dealers lot needs to go for a long drive. See 'ya.

I guess Holton, Elliot and Fitzwarryne are a little older than me. I'm 67 with 4 FBs and a REPU. Still do some mechanical work, but farm a lot of stuff out to a mechanic. I need a break: I also have two houses I'm modernizing and expanding. Too many hobbies!

Here's my task list:

-finish tiling bathroom in wifes house
-change basin faucet in wifes ...
-lay new laminate floor in wifes new addition
-tile kitchen in my house
-install new cabinets in my house
-new granite counters
-new refrigerator
-new stovetop
-new kitchen sink
-install whirlpool in my bathroom
-tile bathroom
-new shower faucet
-new molded glass basin + faucet
-new bath cabinet
-new eljer toilet
-cedarline 2 closets
-tile master bath
-re-tile shower stall
-new granite , basin, faucet
-new baseboards all around
-change all doors, locks, hinges in my place
-new starter in 85SE
-finish oil seal fix on 85SE
-repaint 85SE
-send blue83 to bodyshop for frontend and paint
-silver85 GSL to shop for LF fender ding
-get 83blue brakelights certified OK for tags
-get red83 smoggified
-rubout paint on red83
-convert REPU from points to electronic ignition
-install RB exhaust on REPU

And I thought retirement would mean no work and utter boredom! I could use a little boredom, though.

B

Wow- there are a lot of geeze.. whoops- tenured rotary fanatics out there! I'll be 37 in May and this is my 2nd 1st gen.

Yeah- I know how you feel bliffle- Too many projects, so little time. I built the majority of our house 4 years ago and still have work to do..Never stops eh? I also love old tractors. I restored a 1946 Farmall A a few years back (old handcrank start) and love to use it. I mowed about 30 acres with her yesterday. My 5 year old son has claimed that tractor as his own (which is fine by me, so as long as he gets no ideas about my 7!).

I'm 32 - got my 80LS at 16 (still in my garage), and my 84SE purchased from my dad about 6 years ago (I took my driving test in 'his', then, 84SE - now mine).

The SE gets worked on much more consistently these days, but can't seem to find the heart to sell the 80LS.

I keep thinking it would make a good 'showroom stock' rebuild, but it's seen better days.

We need to post more frequently, here I was thinking the forum was ruled by 18 year old's!

I am 46 and am still driving the only car I ever bought, a Toronado Silver '84 GSL with 106,000mi on it. Got in new in February '84. Just test drove an Rx-8. Its a fine car but has 2 too many seats. Thinking about having the '84 restored as it is completely stock except for the gas tank and radiator. Anyone ever replace a 12A engine with a TII? I am looking to make it better than new.
