Small axle 1st gen LSD carriers

I did have a post in the For sale/Wanted section but can anyone tell me if they know where I might be able to get a couple of the 1st Gen LSD carriers? I would need them sent to me in Australia and hopefully I could buy them for around $120 for a good unit or less for units not so good.

Does anyone know of any dealers or wrecking yards that I could try?

I'd prefer to pay by Paypal as it is easiest and best for both parties I think.

Thanks in advance

Duane

small axle LSD's are running low in Southern CA; mostly 84-85 GSL's.

Thanks Wacky, I know I'm probably on a mission to no where but I've got to try.

You want 81-82 GSL. 83's are kinda iffy since its a mixed years. left over's from 81-82 and when it ran out, they started using 84-85.

Well, the RX's overhere did not come with LSD until the introduction of the big axle rear cheapass'
So I was hoping that a LSD from another Mazda model would fit.

Ok, here's the deal. I got a small axle LSD with a 4.78. I no longer need it since I got my 4.88 back. Tomasoft needs an extra set 4.78 so I may take it apart IF someone will buy the LSD.

hey Kim, Im kinda confused on which one you need: small or big axle LSD

Although I started the thread I know Kim has been looking for a small axle LSD for a while and if you will deal with him and send it to him Wacky I'm happy for you to do that.

Kim, If you were looking for a small axle LSD you would have to look at RX2, RX3, Capella's, RX4 12a, 121(rx5 piston engine), 626rwd, Series1 and series2 RX7.

Wacky if Kim doesn't want it then I'd certainly be interested.

Isn't the only difference between the small axle carrier and the large axle carrier the size of the splines in the side gears that are in the carrier? The carrier bearings , pinion bearings and pinion seals are the same for all years as is the third member housing. Seems to me that you just need the small axle side gears which are different between the big and small axle cars.

Yes that is correct but if he can get a complete earlier LSD that is all he will need. Nobody generally likes to part the LSD's out.

FYI, I bought the LSD from Wacky minus the r+p.

So if the casings are the same and only difference is the gear splines.

*1. Will the r+p from the S3 fit the S2 diff ?

*2. I honestly dont know much about the insides of diffs, but could I just throw in the S2 non-LSD gear/splines into a S3 LSD unit ?
