Sloppy Shifter
Hey guys,
I have a problem with my shifter. Its all loose, it shifts and goes into gear but you can move it around once its in gear. I replaced the bush at the top ball joint thinking this would fix it but its still doing it. Is there something i am missing? The thing i don't get is, it was working fine then i shifted and now its doing this. Any help?

Actually when I replaced my bushings I replaced just that, bushingS. Now, I have an FC, but I don't see how it would be any different for you FB boys and girls. I just put one on top of the ball facing down and another on the bottom facing up. That works fine for me. Remember to attach the bushing springs to the bushings.

Like I stated in my first post. The bushings are done.... Reason i am asking on the site cause i don't know what else it could be. Other then the shifter lever being screwed. I read something about a spring or hook that connects to the bottom on the shifter? Whats that all about.

the spring is there to Keep the shifter ball in the Transmission piece that it slips into.Alot of The time you don't see that Spring,it is either Missing, taken out,Etc..You said you replaced the Top bushing on the Shifter assembly. There is a LOWER bushing too..Check www.mazdatrix.com under shifter bushings.you will see what I mean..the Big ball on the Shifter is "sandwiched" between the Lower and the Upper Shifter Bushing.Even If you replace one,you need the Other one new or Useable,Or you will still have Slop in your shifter..Lastly Atkin's Rotary also will have the bushings..hope that helps you..STYX.

:O When i took the lever out there was no lower bushing. That scares me a bit. Spring was missing too. When i was doing it i thought it was kinda weird Mazda only gave me one bushing. But once the shifter was out it seemed like the only one. Question is where is my other bushing lmao.
Thanks for the help I will have to take it apart again and look more closely I guess.
