Slave Cylinder - New or Rebuild?

I found a 1985 RX7 for sale that needs a new clutch slave cylinder so I have been looking around here for advice on fixing the problem. Is it better to buy a new slave cylinder or rebuild the one that is in the car? Are the stock mazda ones built better than the replacements?

Buy new, get the master and slave together and replace both. Got mine off ebay pretty cheap for new.

Go new. Replace the slave, master, AND the hose all at the same time.
Victoria British is priced well, but shipping is high.
Don't rebuild it, it's not worth it.

Definately go with a new set. I replaced mine about five or six years ago. I got both from a local parts store for $70.00 (that's for both) in Cdn. funds! It's an easy procedure two. You'll need someone to pump the clutch so that you can bleed the lines. All in all, it took about an hour to do the entire job.

Am I the only "old school" member here?? Rebuilding is cheaper, and nearly as easy as buying new. I don't know, I guess I always get a kick out of freshening up old stuff to be like new, rather than automatically buying new.

Just my $0.02.

I am a rebuilder myself. I have bought a rebuilt one before with good success and it seemed to have out lived my rebuilds.

So do you recommend buying a rebuilt one as long as you didn't rebuild it ? ...as opposed to buying a new new one ?

Here where I am, the new one is only a few dollars more than a rebuild kit, so you might as well go new.

When mine shat on me I just got a new one for 30 bucks or so. Also got a braided steel line to go with it. Took me 25 minutes max to replace and bleed it. I'd just get a new one.
