Slave Cylinder

Well my car is hard to get into first gear, and grinds when I shift into second. So I removed my slave, and fluid is getting past it's seal and getting into the boot. So it's toast. NAPA wants $70 something for a new one. That sounds kinda steep. How much should I pay for one, and has anyone ever had the same problem as me?

Thats a ridiculous price for just a slave cylinder. You can get one at checker for less than $25. Mazdatrix.com has them for ~$38 for 1983-1985 12a or $45 for 81-82 12a

$29.95 for a new slave or $9.95 for a repair kit at Black Dragon Automotive.

I got the slave + master + flexihose for $80 at rockauto.com.

Replace them all when one part goes: that way you won't have to do the job all over again next month.

^ I should have mentioned that... I did the same as well. It's almost like changing your oil without replacing the filter
