Question Silicone Or Fact. Gasket

I AM FIXING MY MINOR OIL LEAKS THIS WEEKEND AND I WANT TO KNOW IF I SHOULD JUST USE SOME SILICONE GASKET SEALANT OR IF THE FACTORY GASKET IS RECOMENDED? ALSO HOW MANY WASHERS AND OIL O RINGS DO I NEED TO ORDER FOR MY OIL/WATER COOLER? IT IS LEAKING AS WELL. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Turn off your CAPS LOCK, in the internet world all CAPS means you are YELLING.

Use a gasket where every it call for a gasket in the parts book, silicone sealant does not handle temperature change very well and will leak, at least in my experience. I remember the old days when my dad use to make his own engine gaskets out of a old cereal boxes. It works.....

The oil cooler needs 4 o-rings, remember to give them a touch of engine oil before installing them.

Methinks the earlier models only need 2 oil rings. Vic Brit says 2, but I know the 84-85s need four.

What year and model of car do you have? That info is really useful.

And keep it quiet, use your indoor voice
