Side Seal Spring Markings

Side Seal Spring Markings
The new side seal springs I got in my Atkins rebuild kit (Mazda springs) each have a white marking at one end. Anyone have an idea what this mark means?

the marks on the side seal spring face down when you put them into the rotor and on the ApeX springs thoes marks face towards the inside the rotor.
