Side Mirror Removal

Last night I was trying to remove the side view mirror from the door. Could they make it a bigger PITA? Is there a "secret" access to the bolts? I can't even get a read on the bolt size! My hands aren't that big but I couldn't even get TO the bolts. I gave up as it was getting dark. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well I used the frame around the garage door, worked great. The crunch sucked real bad. Then a screw dricer to take the mangeled miror off.

Its been a while, but I think I used a stubby phillips (star), removed the actuall miror assembly, and then a long phillips to take the pettistoll and base, from inside of the remainder of the assembly.

Be carful not to strip the bolts bc they may be difficult to break loose

Good luck

yea, i hope you arent trying to get it off through the other side of the door pulling off the door panel and everything. Just unscrew the mirror from the outside of the car. One of mine stripped so i had to drill it out, it wasnt bad.

Yes I am an idiot. I was looking inside the door at first. I got them off tonight. 2 of the screws attaching the base to the door itself were rusted in. Drilled one out and finally got the second one off. Once again, thanks for all the great input. I doubt any other car makes have forums remotely this good and knowledgable.
