I was digging thru my car files and thought you might like to see these. They're original...

And this is what they go to...

Thank you, thank you very much... Originally, I wanted to get some nice 15in Enkei or Rikon black mesh wheels, but being pofolk with a big (for it's time) car pmt, couldn't afford them. So I painted these black with silver insets between the spokes. That was nice, too. Later, I went all black and decided I liked that better. Now that I could buy after market wheels, I find that I don't want'em. IMO most of'em look like chrome ceiling fans

Yup, it's really black. I like it like that; I like the contrast. But then you know what they say "Beauty is in the beholder of the mind"

I wish the photos did better justice to the paint job. The Red Pearl over Laser Red Metallic is beautiful. The color shifts from a "hot rose" to a "golden burgundy" depending on the lighting and angle of sun.

Wheel look good, but they have graphite wheel paint out that looks a little better. I have my GS wheels painted with it and with a polished lip. Don't have any picture 'cause I'm at work now. If anyone wants to see them I'll put up a pic when I get home.

Yeah, I'd like to see 'em. Thought about getting these black anodized, but have no idea what that would entail or cost. Nor do I know if it would make the aluminum brittle or not. So... we'll jus stick with the paint

THAT was exactly the look I went for with the louvers, wing and color scheme. You know, like "Got *****?". I think it needs a small hood scoop to add to the image. Maybe someday...

Lol... I didn't even notice that!

can't be anything very big... not enough low-end torque out of a rotary to pull anything bigger than a small tent trailer or something...

Re: She was once a working girl...

Okay, okay... so that wasn't exactly true. Truth is, I built a small trailer for it back in '88 - just for grins.
Sorry the photo sux, but it's old and faded.

The trailer's since "returned to dust", but...
the REX LIVES ON!

That looks like Arizona! What did you have in the trailer that you needed to tow it around?

Yup, Picacho Peak area. I'm sure you're familiar with it. That was on a trip from Los Angeles to Abilene, TX and the trailer had luggage in it. I don't like my car cluttered with junk when I'm traveling.

You still see a number of 7's and Miata's with hitches at SCCA autocross events. Small trailers are used to haul race wheels/ jacks/ misc. junk. I probably will end up doing the same with mine eventually. I hate driving to an event with a car full of tires.

I like the color. I had a 96 Mustang GT in the Laser Red Metallic with a tinted clearcoat, and it was super nice. It is about the only shade of red I like on a car. I wanted to change the color of my 80 GS when I had it painted earlier this year, but chickened out. Oh well, maybe the next 7 can have a new color. Who knows. You definitely have a sharp ride though.

Later,
James
