Short shifter

I had seen something in the past that the shifter from a miata is a perfect.
Has any body done this?

peejay made a LONGER shifter, it sticks up like a foot and is close to the steering wheel.

Not my bag but I guess it works for him.

Almost any shift boot will fit.

BTW, Over the weekend, I drove an absolutely mint condition, well prepared, 1985 GS with a 12A, Dell'Orto, Headers, Direct Fire, MSD, Tokicos, Panasports, Sway Bars, all the bolt ons, yada, yada, yada - And a Mazdatrix Short Shifter .

My Impressions:
1) Damn! This car (stock port 12A) is easily the strongest and fastest 12A I have ever had the pleasure of driving. I know it would beat my 100% stock GSL-SE without a problem. This thing pulled hard as hell.

2) Damn! That Mazdatrix short shifter sucks! That thing is like a Nintendo joystick. Literally less than two inches to switch from gear to gear. If your not careful, You can go from 3 to 5 without a problem.

The owner (real nice guy), told me it takes some getting used to, and it took him about a week. I don't know if this helped anybody, but it made me realize that I like the stock shifter, especially for Drag Racing.

Just my 02 cents.

If it's just shift boots you're after, Larry, Bill Telotte makes a nice one available at http://www.wigglepup.com/RX-7/feature_shifterboot.php
